Hare Krishna on the Parkway

Another beautiful cross-cultural Philadelphia day... the Ratha Yatra festival on Ben Franklin Parkway, down near the Art Museum. I've been waiting for this all year. Lord Krishna devotees of every colour and from all walks of life... along with a very lifelike statue of the founder of the movement... and free vegetarian food.

Regostan

I finally made it to "Regostan" in August --- an area of Rego Park/Forest Hills, Queens where there is a sizeable Bukharan Jewish population. 108th Street is the main drag. There isn't really too much to see --- food markets (selling some good and unique bread), chandelier and tea set shops, and some restaurants --- all lining a very small-town-in-the-city "Main Street". But if you are on your way to JFK Airport, so stop by and have some noodle soup!
